Did you know that, in Delaware, 43% of families who are food-insecure (they don't know where the next meal will come from) have at least one adult who is working? Of those Delawareans that are food-insecure, 32% had to make a choice between food or paying for medicine/medical bills. There is no doubt that there is a hunger crisis in the state of Delaware. That is why this year, for the fourth year in a row, Good Shepherd's Youth Group will be collecting non-perishable goods and donations for the Sunday Breakfast Mission as part of the Souper Bowl of Caring. We will collect everything on February 5, 2012. Checks may be made out to Sunday Breakfast Mission. Please join the Youth Group as we help end hunger in Delaware. |

The Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday, a day on which members of the church receive Palms commemorating the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. One of the traditions of the Episcopal Church is to return these palms which are symbols of Jesus' kingship so they can be made into ashes which symbolize His death and our repentance. The ashes are then used on Ash Wednesday. We will have a basket to receive these palms beginning with this coming Sunday until February 19. We will hold an imposition of Ashes service immediately following the 9:30 service on March 1st. Please note times and locations for Ash Wednesday services around the area. |

“Brightening lives, nourishing souls, connecting to God”
Good Shepherd Episcopal Church is a young, energetic and growing community of dedicated Episcopal Christians, celebrating fellowship in the word and one another. We gather for worship on Sundays at 9:30 am; doors open @ 9:00. Our service is rooted in the tradition of the Episcopal Church with a more contemporary approach. We follow the Book of Common Prayer, but we use PowerPoint and a mix of both live and recorded versions of Contemporary Christian Songs and Hymns. After worship we gather for refreshments and socialization.
We offer children an opportunity to learn about Christ while having fun in our children’s program of Godly Play.
Youth in Middle School and High School enjoy discussing socially relevant topics and how the Bible applies to them, today, in our Treasured Teens program.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Grieco Family Funeral Homes and Beeson Funeral Home of Newark for allowing us to use the fabulous worship space and all that they do help make the building a welcoming place to gather and celebrate God. |
